Kaffitár is a coffee roaster with seven coffee shops, six in the Reykjavík area and one in Reykjanesbær (near the airport). In our coffee shops, we set our standards high for coffee brewing and serving. Our baristas are eager to serve our customers fantastic coffee drinks. The 2016 Icelandic Barista champion is part of our family, trained by us and working for Kaffitár. The food we serve is from our company Kruðerí Kaffitárs, which means Delicatessen. We apply the same logic to our food as for our coffee, it has to be first class, traceable, and from suppliers we know and are good for you.
We buy 85% of our coffee directly from farmers we know, this is called „From a farm to the cup“ and means we know the farmers and visit them regularly.
The majority of our direct coffee comes from Ricardo Rosales at Jesus Maria farm in Nicaragua, from Arturo Aguirre at El Injerto farm in Guatemala and from Daterra ranch in Brazil. Our experience is that we get better quality coffee and more consistency. Sustainability is also an important issue to us and our cafes are certified by the Nordic Ecolabel „The Swan“.
